How it works
Each mode applies its formula: value = base x rate/100; portion% = part/base x 100; change% = (new-old)/old x 100.
Tips
- For reverse problems (X is 20% of what?), add 100 to the second mode.
- Use percent change rather than 'points' to describe shifts fairly.
Limitations
Percentages are computed arithmetically; anomalies like dividing by zero are guarded.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find what percent 15 is of 60?
Divide 15 by 60 and multiply by 100: 25%. The 'A is what % of B' mode does exactly this.
How is percentage increase computed?
(New - Old) / Old x 100. Going from 50 to 75 is a 50% increase.
What does '10% of 40' mean?
10/100 x 40 = 4. The calculator's first mode finds any percentage of any number.
