How it works
Each paver plus its share of gap occupies (plen+gap) x (pwidth+gap). Pavers = area / unit area, inflated by the pattern wastage factor.
Tips
- Set the pattern: running bond ~10%, herringbone ~15%.
- Add extra for cuts at curves and around planters.
- Buy from one pallet for color consistency.

Pattern complexity beyond the presets is approximated by the wastage factor.
Frequently asked questions
How many pavers do I need for a 10x10 patio?
A 10x10 ft area is 100 sq ft. With standard 4x8 in pavers (including a 1/8 in gap) you'll need about 450 pavers before wastage. The calculator gives the exact number.
Does the joint gap matter?
Yes — a 1/8–1/4 in gap between pavers reduces the number slightly. Set your actual gap.
Why add wastage?
Cut pavers at edges, corners and around obstacles. 10% is standard, 15% for herringbone or circular patterns.
